Spring Water - Do you know what you're getting or is it all just hype?
Untested Spring Water is merely water out of the ground the same as if you drilled a well. There could be what is considered Mountain Spring Water but this is just run off which could easily contain what is known as Beaver Fever. It used to be that this type of water was fresh and tasted good but now it may be contaminated and should not be considered any better than water from a well and therefore should be tested for contaminants before trusting it's quality. It may be good water but you will never know for sure if you don't test it. You should pay particular attention to the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) level. Water with high TDS, may cause dehydration symptoms, just like salt water does, instead of hydrate you like proper water should.
There are and have been many bottled spring water companies spring (Pun Intended) up over the past few years with the growth of bottled water. Some of this water has been very good but some of it disastrous and the buyer never knew. I have heard of people filling bottles straight out of the tap and selling it for huge profits. The water I have found to be the best, so far, is Reverse Osmosis but you still need to check out the manufacturer. There is also a unit called Cleen Flo, that does a great job on treating water.
When buying bottled water be sure of what you are getting. Many bottled spring water companies have taken water directly out of the ground or town water supply and sold it as good water. When tested it did not do very well. Reverse Osmosis water is water where almost all contaminants have been removed. It was first designed by the navy to change Salt Water into good drinking water.
Another thing to look out for is a bottled water machine as it can get contaminated as well as the bottle you use to refill. The bottle should be thoroughly washed before reuse.
